1st major experiments in US on 'electronic newspaper' have begun; Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch began transmitting its entire editorial content to 3,000 home terminals around US on computer system called CompuServe; 13 other newspapers, by some time in '81 if all goes according to plan, will also be available in homes; newspapers listed; another experiment has been started by Knight-Ridder Newspapers; $1.5 million project provides news, advertising and other consumer services via 200 personal computers installed in area homes at no cost to participating families; Knight-Ridder is supplying computer and Bell System is providing terminals and telephone lines; 31 advertisers are part of project; commenting are Jim Batten (Knight-Ridder), John C Quinn (Gannett Co), Haines Gaffner (Link), and William S Paley (CBS Inc); illus (L)
