Most of the news reports about last week's coup in Grenada and yesterday's invasion have relied on Government accounts from Washington and various diplomatic and intelligence sources, sporadic reports on the Grenadian radio station and telephone conversations with island residents. Journalists, many sent recently to Bridgetown, Barbados, 150 miles from Grenada, have been unable to get firsthand confirmation of information on such matters as the extent of casualties in the invasion or the situation of United States students and tourists caught in the upheaval.
