NEWSPAPERS and magazines are dipping their toes into computer services, but not without problems. The noncash charge is related to the adoption of the Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 112, which affects extended disability benefits to United States workers. Under the new standard, the cost of the benefits will be accrued during the employees' tenures at G.M. The news came after shares of G.M. closed down $1.375, at $56, on the New York Stock Exchange.
